In the heart of Paris’s 2nd arrondissement, the Galerie Vivienne stands as one of the city’s most iconic covered shopping arcades. Built in 1823, it once housed some of the city’s most prestigious shops, though many later relocated. Revived in the 1960s, the gallery now boasts a diverse array of luxury boutiques. Its design is a visual feast, with a soaring glass roof, decorative terrazzo floors, and intricate paintings and sculptures that depict scenes of trade. At the center, a rotunda features images of goddesses and nymphs, adding a touch of classical elegance to the bustling arcade.
