Temple of Augustus (Temple d’August)

The 2,000-year-old Roman Temple of Augustus, located in the heart of Barcelona’s Gothic Quarter, stands just a short distance from the medieval Barcelona Cathedral. Originally, the temple stretched over 120 feet and was supported by 30 sandstone columns. Today, only four of these columns remain, each rising nearly 30 feet high. These surviving columns are now housed in a single room, offering visitors a glimpse into the city’s ancient Roman past. The towering sandstone remnants provide a tangible connection to the architectural grandeur of the Roman era.
