Rising above the rooftops of Prague’s Staré Město (Old Town), the 130-foot-high (40-meter-high) green cupola of St. Francis of Assisi Church (Kostel Sv. Frantiska z Assisi) is a striking feature of the city skyline. Designed by French architect Jean-Baptiste Mathey and constructed by Gaudenzio Casanova and Domenico Canevalle, this neoclassical church was consecrated in 1688, replacing the original Franciscan church built in 1270. Today, visitors can explore its elegant interior and admire the architectural details that reflect the rich history and cultural heritage of the area.
