Discovered in 1960, Rancho Nuevo Caves Natural Park (Grutas de Rancho Nuevo) is a striking natural wonder located just 20 minutes outside of San Cristóbal de las Casas. The park features extensive limestone caves filled with massive stalagmites and stalactites, accessible via a 2,475-foot (755-meter) winding walkway. Surrounded by a towering pine forest, the area offers a serene and rustic escape. Visitors can explore the caves on foot and then venture into the forest for horseback riding or hiking, immersing themselves in the lush, green surroundings.
