Nestled in the eastern part of Germany, near the borders of Bavaria and the Czech Republic, Plauen is a city with a complex history. In the 1930s, it hosted the first Nazi Party chapter outside of Bavaria, and during World War II, about 75% of the city was destroyed. After the war, Plauen became part of East Germany, where it played a pivotal role in the peaceful demonstrations against the communist regime. These protests were instrumental in bringing down the Berlin Wall. Today, visitors can explore the city’s rebuilt streets and learn about its significant historical events.
