Nizwa Fort

Nizwa Fort, one of Oman’s largest forts, rises in the former capital of Nizwa, commanding views over a lush date-palm oasis and the rugged Hajar Mountains. Constructed in the 17th century by the Ya’rubi tribes following their expulsion of Portuguese occupiers, the fort is distinguished by its towering cylindrical tower, the tallest in Oman.
