Nestled in the craggy Montserrat mountainside near Barcelona, L’Escolania de Montserrat is one of Europe’s oldest boys choirs, with a history dating back to the 13th or 14th century. This renowned choir, comprising about 50 boys aged 9 to 14, is based at the monastery and performs regularly in the basilica. The singers, chosen for their musical talent and other criteria, also attend school here. Visitors can experience the ethereal sounds of the choir, which usually performs twice daily, adding a unique and enchanting element to the visit.
