Hillman Fortress

Known as Hill 61 by the Germans and codenamed ‘Hillman’ by the British, this strategic bunker complex played a crucial role during the D-Day Landings of June 6, 1944. Located in Normandy, France, the fortress served as a significant German World War II command post. It comprised 18 underground bunkers interconnected by trenches and fortified with barbed wire fences and minefields. Today, visitors can explore the preserved bunkers and trenches, gaining insight into the strategic and defensive measures employed during one of the most pivotal moments in 20th-century history.
