Harman Fortified Church (Biserica Fortificata Harman)

Nestled within the fortified walls of Harman, Romania, stands the 13th-century Harman Fortified Church. Built to defend against Ottoman sieges, the sturdy 15th-century walls surround a striking 184-foot (56-meter) bell tower that rises above the main church. Inside, visitors can explore a Baroque-style altar and observe the centuries-old benches, with backless ones in the middle designated for women and those at the outer edges for men. The church’s historical significance and well-preserved features offer a glimpse into the region’s rich past.
