Fort Bokar

Begun in 1461 under the direction of Florentine architect Michelozzo, Fort Bokar (Tvrđava Bokar) was constructed to defend Pile Gate from both land and sea assaults. This cylindrical structure, along with other forts, forms an iconic part of Dubrovnik’s Old Town. Its robust design and strategic location have made it a recognizable landmark, even appearing in HBO’s Game of Thrones. Today, visitors can explore the fort and appreciate its historical significance and architectural integrity.
