Via Sacra

Leading from Capitoline Hill through the Roman Forum and down to the Colosseum, Via Sacra, or Sacred Road, once served as the main thoroughfare of ancient Rome. This historic path, where citizens gathered and triumphal processions marched, now forms part of the open-air museum that is the Roman Forum. Lined with the remnants of some of the city’s most important structures and monuments, the road offers a tangible connection to the past. Visitors today can walk along its ancient stones, surrounded by the ruins of temples, basilicas, and arches, immersing themselves in the rich history and grandeur of the Roman Empire.
