Yao Mountain, the highest of the striking rock formations that rise from the banks of the Li River, stands at nearly 3,000 feet (900 meters). Located outside of Guilin, the mountain offers panoramic views of the surrounding hills, rice fields, and rural villages. About halfway up the mountain, visitors can find the Yaoshan Emperor Temple, which lends its name to the peak. Today, hikers and sightseers can explore the mountain’s rugged terrain and enjoy the serene vistas that stretch out below.
