Brunelleschi’s Dome (Cupola di Brunelleschi)

Towering above Florence, Filippo Brunelleschi’s Dome (Cupola di Brunelleschi) stands as a remarkable feat of engineering and architecture. Completed in 1436 after 16 years of construction, this masonry dome crowns the Florence Duomo (Cattedrale di Santa Maria del Fiore) and dominates the city’s skyline. Inside, visitors can admire the frescoes by Giorgio Vasari and Federico Zuccari that adorn the terracotta-tiled interior. Climbing to the dome’s terrace, one is rewarded with some of the best panoramic views over Florence.
