Lake Mutanda

Nestled in the highlands of southern Uganda, Lake Mutanda is a freshwater body surrounded by the volcanic peaks of the Virunga Mountain Range. The lake’s crystal-clear waters are dotted with 15 islands, only one of which, Mutanda Island, is inhabited. The remaining islands serve as a sanctuary for a variety of bird species, including kingfishers, ibis, cormorants, and pelicans. Visitors can explore the serene landscape, enjoy the natural beauty, and observe the rich avian life that thrives in this tranquil setting.
