Cockle Train

The Cockle Train, Australia’s oldest steel-railed railway line, has been in operation since 1887. Initially, a horse-drawn train transported passengers to the seashore to gather cockles, giving the line its enduring nickname. Today, the train continues to follow the historic route between Goolwa, at the mouth of the Murray River, and Victor Harbor on the south coast. Visitors can experience a scenic journey along this heritage track, enjoying the coastal views and a glimpse into the region’s past.
