Standley Chasm, known to the Arrernte people as Angkerle Atwatye, is a sacred site and one of the West MacDonnell Ranges’ most striking features. Located near Alice Springs, this red sandstone chasm soars 260 feet (80 meters) high and narrows to just 10 feet (3 meters) wide. The dramatic, towering walls create a vivid contrast against the surrounding landscape. Visitors can explore the area through various hiking options, including trails that form part of the Larapinta Trail, offering a chance to experience the natural beauty and cultural significance of this unique formation.
