Lyons Cottage

Lyons Cottage, constructed in 1925, stands as the first stone house in Darwin and the sole surviving example of colonial bungalow architecture in the city. Built from local porcellanite stone, roof tiles imported from England, and timber sourced from Asia, the cottage originally served as the residence of lawyer John ‘Tiger’ Lyons. Today, visitors can explore this historic structure, which offers a glimpse into the architectural and cultural heritage of early 20th-century Darwin.
