Light’s Vision

Light’s Vision, a life-size bronze statue of Adelaide’s founder, Colonel William Light, has stood atop the grassy Montefiore Hill in North Adelaide since 1906. The statue captures the colonel pointing boldly across the city, which he meticulously planned. In 1938, the area was laid out and became known as Colonel Light’s Lookout, offering panoramic views over the parkland and the city. Visitors can enjoy vistas that include the iconic Adelaide Oval cricket ground, making it a fitting tribute to the man who envisioned and designed the city’s layout.
