Built in 1870 by Charles Brooke, the Second White Rajah of Sarawak, the Astana stands as a regal complex on the banks of the Sarawak River in Kuching. The official residence of the Governor of Sarawak, it comprises three separate bungalows connected by a narrow system of passageways. This intricate layout unifies all parts of the Astana into a single, palatial dwelling.
