The Ancient City of Jiaohe, located in Turpan, China, dates back over 1,500 years and remains remarkably well-preserved. Perched on a 98-foot (30-meter) plateau, the city’s elevated position provided a natural defense against invaders. At its peak, it was home to approximately 5,000 residents and featured a main street, monasteries, government offices, and residential areas. Visitors today can explore the remnants of this ancient metropolis, including the section dedicated to stupas, and gain insight into the daily life and architecture of a bygone era.
