Mozambique

Stretching along the southeastern coast of Africa, Mozambique is bordered by Tanzania to the north, Malawi and Zambia to the northwest, Zimbabwe to the west, and South Africa and Eswatini to the southwest. The country’s long coastline, lined with dunes and turquoise water, contrasts with its inland landscapes, which range from lush, green highlands to vast, arid plains. Historically, Mozambique was a Portuguese colony until it gained independence in 1975, followed by a civil war that ended in 1992. Today, visitors can explore vibrant cities like Maputo, known for its colonial architecture and bustling markets, or venture into the natural beauty of national parks, where they can observe diverse wildlife and experience the rich cultural traditions of the local communities.
