Originally a hunting lodge for Ottoman sultans in the 19th century, Yildiz Palace Museum (Yildiz Sarayi Müzesi) in Istanbul’s Besiktas district was expanded and transformed into a secure residence by Sultan Abdulhamid II, who feared an attack on the seaside Dolmabahce Palace.
