Yasukuni Shrine (Yasukuni Jinja)

Established in 1869, the Yasukuni Shrine in Tokyo serves as a memorial to Japan’s war dead, with nearly 2.5 million individuals enshrined within its grounds. The names listed on the shrine include soldiers, students, relief workers, and wartime medics. Notably, the shrine also enshrines 14 class-A war criminals, such as Hideki Tojo, who was an army general and the Japanese prime minister during World War II. Visitors can explore the serene and historically significant site, which continues to be a place of reflection and remembrance.
