Xihuacan Museum and Archaeological Site (Museo Xihuacan)

The Xihuacan Museum and Archaeological Site, located in Ixtapa on Mexico’s Pacific coast, offers a glimpse into the region’s pre-Columbian past. Excavations have revealed significant structures such as a Mesoamerican ball court, a sacrificial altar, and clay pyramids. The on-site museum houses approximately 800 smaller artifacts, including an ancient town sign inscribed in Nahuatl, the indigenous American language. Visitors can explore these well-preserved ruins and gain insight into the rich cultural and historical heritage of the area.
