Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang)

Xi’an City Wall, one of the most extensive and best-preserved defensive structures in the world, dates back to 1370 during the Ming Dynasty. Encircling the city, the wall features 98 ramparts, each with its own sentry house, and 18 gateways. The South Gate stands out as the most impressive. Today, visitors can walk along the broad, cobbled pathways, taking in the robust architecture and panoramic views of the city. The wall offers a tangible connection to Xi’an’s rich history and strategic importance.
