The Wildcat Trail, a roughly 4-mile (6.5 kilometer) lasso-shaped path, encircles West Mitten Butte within the Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park. Starting at the trailhead near the park’s visitor center, this is the only self-guided hiking trail in the area, offering visitors the unique opportunity to explore the scenic landscape on foot without needing a permit or official tour. The trail winds through the iconic red sandstone formations, providing up-close views of the buttes and the surrounding desert environment.
