Whakarewarewa

Nestled in the geothermal heart of Rotorua, Whakarewarewa, the Living Maori Village, has been home to the Tuhourangi-Ngati Wahiao tribe for over two centuries. The village is built around the Te Whakarewarewa Valley, where geysers and hot pools create a unique and dynamic landscape. Visitors can immerse themselves in the rich cultural heritage by enjoying a traditional hangi meal, cooked using the valley’s thermal vents, and by experiencing the powerful performances of waiata (song) and haka (dance).
