Victoria Falls, known locally as Mosi-oa-Tunya, or ‘the smoke that thunders,’ straddles the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is the largest sheet of waterfalls in the world, though not the widest or tallest. Named by Dr. David Livingstone after the Queen of England, the falls have long been a natural wonder. On a clear day, the mist generated by the cascading water can be seen from up to 30 miles (48 kilometers) away, creating a dramatic and awe-inspiring sight. Visitors today can experience the thunderous roar and the dense, swirling mist, immersing themselves in the raw power and beauty of this natural spectacle.
