Vandenberg Wreck

Once a Second World War transport ship, the Vandenberg now rests on the seafloor south of Key West. Scuttled in 2009, this 522-foot (159-meter) vessel has transformed into an underwater haven for marine life and a popular site for scuba divers. The ship’s structure is encrusted with a variety of corals, providing shelter and habitat for barracuda, groupers, and other sea creatures. Divers can explore the ship’s decks and passageways, observing the vibrant ecosystem that has flourished around the wreck.
