Valley of the Queens

Nestled in the rugged landscape near Luxor, Egypt, the Valley of the Queens is a necropolis that, despite its name, houses not only the tombs of ancient pharaohs’ wives but also their children and some high officials. The valley contains around 70 graves, with four currently open to visitors: the tombs of Nefertari, Titi, Khaemwaset, and Amenherkhepshef. Each tomb offers a glimpse into the burial practices and artistic styles of ancient Egypt, with intricate wall paintings and hieroglyphics. An additional fee is required for entry into Nefertari’s tomb, known for its exceptionally well-preserved and detailed decorations.
