Tua Pek Kong Temple

Kuching’s Tua Pek Kong Temple, one of the city’s oldest Chinese places of worship, dates back to 1770 as claimed by a plaque at the site. It is among more than 70 temples in Sarawak dedicated to Tua Pek Kong, a Taoist deity revered by Malaysians and Singaporeans of Chinese descent. Perched on a podium adorned with vibrant dragon carvings, the temple’s interior is filled with the smoldering scent of incense and glistens with gaudy colors. Visitors can explore this historic and visually striking place, immersing themselves in its rich cultural and spiritual heritage.
