Three Cities

The Three Cities, comprising Vittoriosa, Senglea, and Cospicua, sit across the Grand Harbour from Valletta, Malta. Enclosed by fortifications built by the Knights of St. John in the 16th century, these dockside neighborhoods served as the knights’ base from 1530 until the founding of Valletta in 1570. Today, visitors can explore the historic streets and forts that once protected the harbor, providing a glimpse into the area’s rich maritime and defensive past. The cities offer a picturesque view, with their ancient walls and structures forming a scenic backdrop to the bustling Grand Harbour.
