Nestled within Ditan Park, the Temple of Earth stands as the last remaining temple dedicated to the God of Earth and the second largest of Beijing’s five altar temples. Constructed in 1530 by Emperor Jiajing, this historic site served as a place of sacrifice and prayer for 14 emperors, who sought the God of Earth’s favor for bountiful harvests. Today, visitors can explore the serene grounds, which offer a glimpse into the ritualistic practices and architectural grandeur of imperial China.
