Following Fidel Castro’s takeover of Cuba in 1959, many skilled cigar makers fled the country, seeking new opportunities. In 1971, they established Tabacalera de Garcia in La Romana, Dominican Republic. Today, it stands as the world’s largest hand-rolled cigar factory.
