The Swartberg Pass, cutting through the towering Swartberg mountain range, was constructed between 1881 and 1888. This winding road ascends steeply through a series of hairpin turns, revealing the vibrant colors of the surrounding rocks. Today, visitors can experience dramatic vistas as they traverse the pass, which also serves as the gateway to the remote Gamkaskloof valley, part of the Swartberg Nature Reserve.
