St. Mary Basilica

St. Mary Basilica, the oldest active Catholic cathedral in Mississippi, was constructed in a Gothic Revival style in 1842 and consecrated in 1886. Formally known as the Cathedral of Our Lady Sorrow, it served as the seat of the diocese until 1977. Located in Natchez, the basilica is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and underwent partial restoration in 2001. Visitors today can explore its historic architecture, featuring intricate Gothic details and a sense of enduring spiritual significance.
