The Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, located in People’s Square, traces the city’s evolution from a small fishing village to a bustling metropolis. Spanning five floors above ground and two below, the museum offers a comprehensive look at Shanghai’s past and future through photos, models, videos, and interactive displays. The third floor features a massive scaled model of the city, while the wraparound 3D theater provides a glimpse into the future. In the basement, visitors can stroll down a recreated 1930s Shanghai street, which leads to a modern underground shopping plaza. Audio guides in eight languages are available, and the museum is wheelchair and stroller accessible. A café on the fifth floor offers views over People’s Square.
