Established in 1949, the San Juan National Historic Site (Sitio Histórico Nacional de San Juan) encompasses some of the city’s most significant historical landmarks. Visitors can explore Castillo San Felipe del Morro, which stands guard over San Juan Bay, and Castillo San Cristóbal, designed to defend against land-based threats. The site also includes much of the city walls, the San Juan Gate, and Fort San Juan de la Cruz. Today, guests can walk along the ancient fortifications, climb the castles, and immerse themselves in the rich history of this UNESCO World Heritage site.
