Founded in 1885 by a young Chinese immigrant named Yong Koon, Royal Selangor emerged at the start of Malaysia’s Tin Rush and has since grown into one of the world’s largest pewter manufacturers. Located in Kuala Lumpur, the Royal Selangor Visitor Centre provides a window into Malaysia’s cultural heritage through its museum, store, and factory tours. Visitors can explore the history and craftsmanship of pewter, observe the production process, and even participate in hands-on workshops to create their own pewter pieces.
