Rookery Building

Rookery Building

Completed in 1888, the Rookery Building stands in the heart of Chicago’s downtown Financial District. Once one of the world’s tallest buildings, this 11-story structure boasts a rich history. In the early 20th century, a then-unknown Frank Lloyd Wright was commissioned to renovate the interior. His design introduced gleaming white-and-gold marble, bronze chandeliers, and intricate wrought-iron details, which visitors can still admire today. The Rookery Building offers a glimpse into the architectural evolution and the innovative spirit of the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
