The Roman Forum, or Foro Romano, was once the bustling heart of the Roman Empire, filled with temples, courts, and basilicas. Active until around AD 410, it eventually fell into disuse and was plundered for its marble, leaving behind a sprawling expanse of ruins. Today, this archaeological site, located just steps from the Colosseum, offers visitors a glimpse into the ancient world, though it can be challenging to interpret without an archaeologist guide. Despite its deterioration, the Roman Forum remains one of Rome’s most significant historical attractions.
