Near San Cristobal, the Pomier Caves (Cuevas del Pomier) span an expansive area of 1.5 square miles and encompass 55 caves, making it the largest collection of prehistoric rock art in the Caribbean. The Taino, Igneri, and Caribs left behind thousands of pictograms and petroglyphs, some dating back 2,000 years. Visitors can explore this ancient site, tracing the intricate carvings and paintings that adorn the cave walls, offering a vivid glimpse into the lives and cultures of the region’s early inhabitants.
