Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial

Above Omaha Beach, just outside Bayeux, the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial stands as a poignant tribute to the fallen. This site is the final resting place of over 9,000 soldiers, most of whom lost their lives during the D-Day battles of Normandy. Rows of white marble crosses and Stars of David mark the graves, set against the backdrop of the English Channel. Visitors can walk through the manicured grounds, read the names inscribed on the Walls of the Missing, and pay their respects at the memorial statue. The cemetery also honors other World War II heroes, making it a significant and reflective destination.
