Perched on the southern shore of Lake Pontchartrain, the New Canal Lighthouse has stood as a beacon since 1838. Rebuilt in 2012 after sustaining damage from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, the lighthouse now blends modern and historic materials. Visitors can explore its unique structure, which houses both a working lighthouse and a museum, making it the only such attraction in Louisiana. The lighthouse offers a glimpse into the region’s maritime history and provides a vantage point to take in the scenic views of the lake.
