Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen

Rotterdam’s premier art museum, the Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, was founded on the bequests of two wealthy Dutch art lovers: Frans Jacob Otto Boijmans in 1847 and Daniel George van Deuningen in 1955. The museum, currently housed in a stylish red-brick building designed by Adrianus Van der Steur, features a collection of over 140,000 works, ranging from 16th-century paintings to contemporary glassware. Notable pieces include Pieter Bruegel’s intricate The Tower of Babel (1553), delicate drawings by Fra Bartolommeo, and Rembrandt’s Titus at his Desk. The museum also showcases works by renowned artists such as Rubens, Dalí, Da Vinci, Monet, Picasso, and Man Ray. Visitors can explore airy glass galleries, a sculpture park, and fountains, and enjoy free temporary exhibitions in the Willem van der Vorm gallery and Serra Hall.
