Muncaster Castle

For 800 years, Muncaster Castle has stood as the ancestral home of the Pennington family, perched above the picturesque Eskdale valley. Originally built in the 13th century, the castle has undergone several expansions, with the most recent in 1885. Today, visitors can wander through its sumptuous state rooms and explore the 77-acre (31-hectare) gardens. The castle grounds also house a Hawk and Owl Center, where guests can observe a variety of birds of prey up close.
