Rising 2,600 feet (793 meters) above the city of Puerto Plata and the sea, Mt. Isabel de Torres is a prominent landmark in the Dominican Republic. At its peak, visitors can see a massive statue of Christ, a replica of the one in Rio de Janeiro, set against a backdrop of a small botanical garden. The mountain offers panoramic views of the city below, and it is also home to the Caribbean’s only aerial cable car, known as the teleférico, providing a unique way to ascend and enjoy the scenic surroundings.
