Mongu, the capital of Zambia’s remote Western Province, is situated near the Angolan border. This city serves as the gateway to Liuwa Plain National Park, located about 46 miles (75 kilometers) northwest. Mongu is particularly renowned for the Kuomboka ceremony, an annual event held each April. During this celebration, the Lozi royal court makes a ceremonial move from Lealui to Limulunga, drawing visitors and locals alike to witness the cultural tradition.
