Malinta Tunnel

Carved into the hillside of Corregidor Island, the Malinta Tunnel was constructed by American forces in 1932. Stretching about 820 feet (250 meters) with additional branching tunnels, it played a crucial role during World War II. This subterranean network served as General Douglas MacArthur’s headquarters before the American retreat from the Philippines in 1942. Today, visitors can explore the tunnel and gain insight into its historical significance, experiencing the same enclosed, dimly lit environment that once housed military operations.
