Set in a grand former royal palace, the Malay Heritage Centre offers a window into the rich heritage of Singapore’s Malay community. Built 160 years ago, the former Istana Kampong Glam served as the royal seat of the Malay sultans. Today, the beautifully restored building houses galleries that delve into the history of Kampong Gelam, along with an array of artefacts from the National Collection and the wider Malay community. Visitors can explore the well-preserved grounds and even include the centre in a walking tour of Kampong Glam and the Sultan Mosque.
